The Nicollet Mall Farmers Market

Yesterday when I was downtown at the Nicollet Mall Farmer's Market after my morning chemo treatment, I stopped at the Great Harvest Bread Company stand. After I picked up a few things for Tim and I, I wandered over to a new stand a short ways down the block. The lady was just setting up her goods and offering free samples ("free" is my favorite color of the alphabet). I noticed that the little table tent she had sitting in front of (what looked to be chocolate bars) read "key lime." I LOVE KEY LIME PIE!!!!!

At this very time, this really, really hot guy came and stood next to me (also checking out what she was displaying). Being somewhat distracted by my new "neighbor" (ok, I admit, I was actively "chickinhawking"), I only half noticed that the lady at the stand gave me a small rectangular block from the pile marked "key lime" wrapped in a napkin.

I then proceeded to put the sample in my mouth and began to chew. Suddenly a look of shock came over the lady's face and she suddenly blurted out, "you didn't just eat that did you?"

Well, technically, I had only begun the process of mastication, so "eat" may not have accurately described the extent of the process.

I simply nodded yes, now also aware that the cute guy standing next to me had a somewhat astounded look on his face.

To which she replied, "that is hand soap!"

At this point three things happened -
a) I ceased the already-in-process mastication and proceeded to spit the contents from my mouth (in as delicate a fashion as possible),
2) The really cute "chickin" standing next to me doubled up in laughter (guess I lost any intended brownie points with him in the "intelligence" competition - however, he might consider my entrance in the "suave" competition ["Suave does what theirs does for a lot less"]), and
$) Most importantly, I replied to the lady at the stand, "well, my breath smells nice and clean".

I felt so sorry for the guy standing next to me as I thought he was going to hit the pavement from laughing so hard.

So I did the only logical thing. I said, "I see my job here is done. I will take my leave now. Adieu."

Key lime soap - what a concept!

Now you know from where I get such a "bubbly" personality?

Ya gotta love the Nicollet Mall Farmers Market. :-)
