Intuition and the Silva Method

For many years now I have been a student of The Silva Method - a group of teachings that train you to use greater parts of your mind and to use them in a different fashion, as well as teaching stress management, relationship enhancement, and a multitude of other personal development techniques.

Back in late 1997, I had moved back to Philadelphia from Montana after the passing of my life partner, David. It was a difficult time for me as it was necessary not only for me to clean out his house and prepare it for sale but also because I had to "move on" with my life after losing my life-partner of more than 13 years.

In early 1998, Ken Coscia, a very well-known and talented Silva instructor from New England - and a very good friend of my long-time Silva instructor, Jeanie Bengston - announced that he was coming to Philadelphia to teach a workshop in intuition and psychic development. I of course jumped on the opportunity to take the class, having taken many classes from Jeanie over the years as well as many from several other Silva instructors such as Burt Goldman, Jose Silva and his daughter Laura Silva.

Part of Ken's class involved pairing with another student to develop our abilities in the aspect of psychometry, that is; picking up impressions from objects. The classmate with whom I was paired was a gentleman from Central Pennsylvania whom I had never met prior to the start of the class.

During the exercise, after my classmate handed me the object he had brought to class, I went to my meditative level and began to describe to him what I was seeing. As soon as I touched the ring he had given me, in my mind I saw a young girl (maybe about 10 or 11 years old) standing behind him. Then I saw her touch him on the shoulder. I related to my classmate as much as I could about her appearance.

I then began to notice a look of hurt on her face and she began to cry. Then I saw her point off in the distance and in my mind, I saw a large field before a group of trees on the other side of what appeared to be a country road. Neither the girl nor this location looked familiar to me, but I continued to relate my experience to my classmate.

When I came out of “level”, I asked him if any of this made any sense to him. He said that it did not and that the ring had been given to his brother by an ex-girlfriend years ago. But she did not look anything like the young girl I described in my “vision.”

So we finished the rest of the class. That evening, just before bed I did something I almost NEVER did – I turned on the television to watch the news. I NEVER WATCH THE NEWS!!!

The first thing I saw when the screen lit up was a scene of police officers taking someone into custody, someone who looked vaguely familiar. Then they flashed the name of the person being arrested at the bottom of the screen and I gasped when I realized that it was my nephew (whom I had not seen in many years).

Then the story unfolded…

My nephew was being arrested as a suspect in the murder of an 11 y.o. girl whose body was discovered that afternoon in a remote wooded area in rural South Jersey. When the cameras turned to show the location where she was found, I found that I could barely catch my breath. Then they showed her photograph.

The girl WAS the girl that I had seen in my vision during the psychometry exercise at Ken’s class that very afternoon – and the field and wooded area to which I saw her pointing was the location where they had found her body.

I immediately called Jeanie at home and told her what I had just seen. She told me that she would relay my experience to Ken and get back to me.

My guess is that because I was in a “mode of receptivity” which is what I have come to call my state of mind when I receive such visions, even though the “vision” I had was totally unrelated to the object my classmate had presented to me, it merely acted as a conduit for me to receive the information intuitively.

Since then I have had several such experiences – although none quite as drastic – all indicative of our ability to intuit information from other planes of experience.

My personal recommendation: never underestimate the power of your mind and the extent of your capabilities.
